Nature Tour: West Coast

The Swedish west coast has long been a popular tourist destination for the Swedes themselves. Small, picturesque cottages built on the rocky archipelago coastline, make the waterfront simply magnificent. Stroll along the wharfs at late sunset, listening to the chatter from the many restaurants or the pleasant sound of the ocean. Combine this with the three days in the pulsating and vibrant city of Copenhagen and you will find the tour offering something for everyone.

Itinerary

Day 1-4

The first day will be spent in Gothenburg, the second largest city in Sweden and famous for its successful events and large industries such as Volvo, SKF and AstraZeneca. Stroll the avenues and have a traditional Swedish “fika” in the old neighborhood Haga. Watch the fishermen at Feskekyrkan and join a guided tour on the sightseeing boat Paddan. Gothenburg is clean, friendly and flowering and a perfect stop for shopping, museum or strolling-lovers! The next stop will be the picturesque village of Smögen, the heart of the Swedish west coast. The lands-cape is breathtaking with its unique rock formations and red wooden cottages. Here, the fishing industry is in focus and you can experience Swedish food specialties, such as Swedish shrimps and the popular West coast sallad. The area also contains the world famous rock carvings in Tanumshede, a prehistoric pictorial treasure from the Bronze Age with the pictures carved in the smooth rock. The Rock Carvings in Tanum were inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1994. In the Smögen area we recommend you to add a fishing tour, a archipelago tour or playing golf.

Day 5-6

Driving from Smögen to our next stop, Håverud, we will pass Dalslands Moose-ranch which will give you a possibility to watch Swedish moose in their natural habitat. In Håverud there are exhibitions about Swedish handicraft and culinary traditions. Add a canoe-trip, a horse-riding tour or a fisihing experience or simply enjoy the silence and beautifulness of Swedish countryside!  On the fifth day you will have the chance to explore the beautiful and man-made Dalslands Canal. During the canal trip you pass 18 locks and will ascend 150 ft. in altitude. On the tour you will pass Håverud which is famous for its combination of Road Bridge, Railroad Bridge and Aqueduct. You also pass small industrial communities with locks and manor houses, connected by beautiful lakes with rich wildlife.

Day 7-10

Evening Day 6 will take you to Copenhagen.  Copenhagen has everything for everyone; art-districts, the unique free-town area of Christiania, the picturesque Nyhavn or the shopping-district Strøget. Follow us on city sights-seeing and a daily sight-seeing tour to nearby Swedish Skanör Falsterbo and we will give you a unique experience of Scandinavia!
