Itinerary

Day 1-3

Whether you view architecture and design as art forms, sciences or hobbies, Stockholm will have something for everyone. A visit to the Old Town, with its narrow alleys and architecture that stretches all the way back to the 13th century, is one of the tour highlights. Stockholm contains both small wooden houses as well as large fashion malls. Besides the shopping, you can visit the Royal Palaces which has unique architecture and stunning art and paintings. The area of Drottningholm castle also contains the Drottningholm theathre which dates back to 1750, still performing operas on that same stage with that same machinery and the same hall. The stunning building of the City Hall, which venues the annual Nobel Prize festivities, is considered as one of Stockholm most fascinating architectural buildings and a visit to the Museum of Modern Art is highly appreciated. And why not join us for a visit to the world-famous ice-bar, designed and made only of ice!

Day 4-6

Swedish Glasblower When leaving Stockholm we will stop by the beautiful village of Söderköping for lunch to watch the man built Göta Canal and its magnificent locks. The tour continues by bus to Kalmar and we will make a second stop at Kalmar where we also will spend the night. Why not go spend the evening by having dinner with a view of the castle of Kalmar in sunset? Day 5 will be devoted to the Kingdom of Chrystal. Here you can enjoy a close-up view of the glassblowers transforming the molten glass into beautiful glass works. You can even get the chance to try and blow one yourself. The night will be spent according to tradition in the Kingdom of Crystal: dinner will be cooked and served in the glassworkers’ smelting house! When going to Gothenburg, you will pass Älmhult, the birth city of IKEA. Late evening, we arrive in Gothenburg. When in the Kingdom of crystal, you will stay at the brand-new Crystal Hotel.

Day 7-9

The Gothenburg area is host for many cultural sites. You will be offered the chance to see some of the world’s finest watercolour paintings in the inspiring surroundings of the Nordic Watercolour museum, have a traditional Swedish “Fika” in the old neighbourhood Haga or visit the Röhsska Museum, Sweden’s leading museum of applied art and design. The area also encompasses the small town Alingsås, which is one of the world leading cities of lighting design. During the month of October, the whole town is being enlightened by lighting designers and students from all-over the world. Walk through the town which is lit by the warmth of world famous lighting designers and inhale the atmosphere. Welcome to the simplicity of Scandinavian Design!
